HALA SALEM IS A DANCER/CHOREOGRAPHER/MULTIDISCIPLINARY ARTIST/DANCE
TEACHER/WORKSHOP FACILITATOR, WITH A PROFESSIONAL TRAINING AND BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN DANCE THEATRE. HER WORK OFTEN EXPLORES THE INTERSECTION OF TRADITION AND MODERNITY, DELVING INTO HER CULTURAL HERITAGE AND LANGUAGE THROUGH MOVEMENT AND SPOKEN WORD.
HALA HAS PERFORMED LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, COLLABORATING WITH DIVERSE ARTISTS TO CREATE INNOVATIVE AND CROSS-CULTURAL PERFORMANCES.
SHE HAS PERFORMED AS BOTH A SOLO ACT, AS WELL AS WITH LOCAL DANCE GROUPS, AND HAS APPEARED IN SEVERAL MUSIC VIDEOS AND ART VIDEO PROJECTS.
IN 2018, FOR EXAMPLE, SHE COLLABORATED WITH RAND TAHA (DANCER) AND YUSOR HAMED (MUSICIAN/PRODUCER), TO CREATE A DUET CALLED "PARALLEL", A PERFORMANCE THAT SOUGHT TO HIGHLIGHT AND EMPHASIZE WHAT PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL STATES THAT WOMEN MUST ENDURE THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES WHILST DAWNING A DIFFERENT BACKGROUND, BUT ARE PART OF THE SAME COMMUNITY. THEY HAVE PERFORMED BOTH LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY.
WITH THE ACADEMIC ARAB COLLEGE FOR EDUCATION IN HAIFA, HALA CREATED HER FIRST FULL-LENGTH PERFORMANCE, "ARAQ" (2022), WHICH HALA WORKED ON AS A DIRECTOR AND CHOREOGRAPHER.
IN 2023 HALA COLLABORATED WITH A NUMBER OF THEATRE, DANCE, AND CINEMA PROJECTS IN PALESTINE, BOTH AS A PERFORMER AND CHOREOGRAPHER:

AT THE END OF 2023 ALONG WITH THE STORYTELLING CENTER IN AMSTERDAM HALA WORKED ON HER NEW LONG SOLO "SAFFRON" THAT PREMIERED IN HOLLAND. WHERE SHE PARTNERED WITH LYNN ADIB WHO PROVIDED THE MUSIC AND GHENWA NOIRÉ PROVIDING ANIMATION AND VISUALS.
IN 2024, "SAFFRON" IS STILL TOURING ACROSS EUROPE.
HALA ALSO WORKS AS A MOVEMENT AND DANCE INSTRUCTOR WITH DIFFERENT MARGINALIZED GROUPS SUCH AS: KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, ELDERLY PEOPLE, AND WOMEN.
